Maria Kalaniemi is one of Finland's leading contemporary accordionists. Technically brilliant as a player and adept at improvisation, she is also a very powerful, intuitive and sensitive composer, with pieces that stylistically touch numerous areas but feature her own personality as the driving force. Melody is the meaning and with Maria, listeners are sure to feel her message deeply. She was awarded with the national musical award in Finland in 2018 and membership of the Swedish Royal Academy of Music in the same year.

Accessibility
At the main entrance of Oulun Palvelualan Opisto, there are stairs. Wheelchair access is available through the entrance on the Urheilukatu side, which has a ramp. The premises include an accessible restroom. The lobby dining hall has step-free access.
